Lovin' My New Site Design!

Ruth Tynes The Official Web Site RuthTynes.com

I decided to register myname.com around this time last year and put up a basic info page...promo shot, bio, contact information for speaking and such, and a little behind the scenes look into how InTheTimes.com and In the Times magazine got started.

Of course, I longed to go beyond the basic and get creative, but, as a Business Owner my time is limited and that means making a laser focused list of business priorities. So decorating myname.com had to wait. As long as we provided the basic information that visitors needed that was sufficient.

Inquires always flood into the office wanting to know more about the girl behind the projects, so dolling up this web site was on the top priority list for 2009!

Of course, I couldn't complain, I love to talk, I love to hang out, and since so much of what I do is about promoting other people, often times 'my personality' is stifled. After all, who wants to read an article where you are supposed to be learning about an album release and the author starts rambling about something that happened to them in Middle School...I know I don't. (smile) So, I longed for a place where I could let 'my public' see more of Ruth, the girl, in addition to Ruth, the Editor.

So, after a lot of planning sessions with the LORD... Oh 'ya, while we're on that subject, here are some of my favorite verses in the Bible about planning with the LORD!

"The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful."
(Proverbs 12:5)

"Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness. All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty."
(Proverbs 14:22-23)

"Folly delights a man who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding keeps a straight course. Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."
(Proverbs 15:21-22)

"All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The LORD works out everything for his own ends--even the wicked for a day of disaster."
(Proverbs 16:2-4)

"Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps."
(Proverbs 16:8-9)

"Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."
(Proverbs 19:20-21)

"The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare."
(Proverbs 21:5-6)

"May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Selah. May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests."
(Psalm 20:3-5)

So yeah, yesterday was the day for me to actually build the HTML for the site. Now, I am going to stop myself before I go on a tangent about building web sites the HTML way vs. the drag and click way, lol ! Maybe I can blog about that later...

I've been building web sites literally since the start of the internet, so I have 'very strong opinions' about where technology has gone over the years... But yes, all for another time. (smile)

Soooo, I am very pleased with how RuthTynes.com turned out! I wanted a design that kind of felt like you were in my office or sitting at my desk, very 'Editor' feeling.

As anyone who shares my profession (or a similar profession) can agree, our office / desk is where all of the action happens! Like right now I look around on my desk and I see post-it-notes stuck to my computer monitor & desk with a bajillion things to do written on them... pens in every color... mail yet to be opened... press kits to review... CDs, books, & DVDs to review... Bibles in almost every translation... drafts of articles waiting to be written, and so much more! (smile)

But, it's an organized mess... (smile)

Well, sometimes it is... (lol)

But, it's fun! I like doing what I do and I thank God everyday for giving me the strength to sacrifice in so many different ways to do what I love and what I know He's called me to do to help spread His Good News!

I encourage you, whatever God has lead you to do, do it! It will be hard, most of the time choosing another path will be way more comfortable and much easier, but don't. Choose the path that God has given you, in the longrun, you won't regret it!

"Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him." "

(Lamentations 3:22-24)
